Frequently Asked Questions

  • Timbersleds have quickly gained popularity in the outdoor community. It is essentially dirt biking on snow! Except the tires have been replaced with a snowmobile track and large ski. Snowbikes, unlike snowmobiles, are narrow, light and easy to turn - which allows you to go where snowmobiles can not! These nimble snow machines float through powder and dart between obstacles easily. Try it for yourself.

  • What is the difference between a timbersled tour, snowbike tour and snow bike tour? Nothing. As with many new things there are several different iterations of the same word. Timbersled, Snowbike and Snow Bike can all be used interchangeably.

Other names used are Snow Dirt Bikes, Timber Sleds, Snow Scooter, Snow Moto, Snow Bike Sled, Snow Motorcycle, Ski Biking … and so on.

The sport is still finding its name but we and most people inside of the industry refer to it as “Snowbikes”. We are also fans of SnowMoto and Snowtorcycle.

  • If you have experience riding a motorcycle or dirt bike then riding a timbersled should come quite naturally. However, even with little to no experience you’ll be carving powder in no time! Our trips are curated to teach new riders how to ride and help improve skills for those with experience riding.

Timbersleds are much easier to ride than a snowmobile in deep powder. They offer stability and agility that will benefit the rider. Since snowbikes are like riding a motorcycle - they will require that the rider shift gears.

    Ready for the snowbike experience?

  • Snowbike Colorado believes that quality bikes are necessary for an enjoyable experience in the backcountry, we run new Yamaha YZ450F dirt bikes to give you as much power as possible in the powder. Each bike is equipped with the Timbersled’s new ARO 129 kits, providing the best handling in a variety of different terrain from steep and deep, to sidehills and tight trees. These “do everything” kits are built to be easy to hop on and ride with a little motorcycle experience. Each bike includes extra upgrades such as electric start, heated handle bars, and hand guard/snow shields, as well as a spare can of gas for a safe and comfortable adventure. Our tour on private property is the perfect way to experience the bikes throughout a variety of terrain from open powder meadows to single track through trees. The ultimate way to adventure for the adrenaline junkies and dirt bike enthusiasts.
